Has Anyone With Von Willebrands Been On A Medication That Lowers Platelet Count?
A MyHemophiliaTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am looking at starting a Rx called Nuedexta. It's the one and only med approved for the condition I'd be treating, but it can lower platelet count. My VW's is mild... this condition I'm looking to treat is not... how do I go about knowing if it is safe for me? I've had some incompetent Drs in the past and will not trust any Dr blindly if I can research too.

I can’t take any medicines as I’m allergic to everything now but I do know this....... get your blood drawn before you try the medicine and keep a journal .after 1wk draw blood again and see how your blood count is. Also track nosebleeds, bruises, feeling sleepy....... anything. It’s what I would do if I had no choice and had to take a medicine. My blood count drops for almost all medicines. I hope this info helps you a little and sorry I couldn’t do better. Take care and good luck.
