Do Any Of You With VWD Experience Petechiae And Fatigue?
A MyHemophiliaTeam Member asked a question 💭

For the last couple of months, I've experienced periodic extreme fatigue and I get petechiae (small red dotted rash) on my legs and chest. Are these typical symptoms any of you have experienced with your Von Willebrand Disease? What do you do about it?

I have VWD and have a lot of petechiae and fatigue. My spots range in size but they start out small and over time get larger. They are a purplish red color and I have them all over. I am 64 so I've had the spontaneous small bleeds and bruising for a long long time.

Hi Monica, I have Von Willebrands and some days I feel like I got hit by a bus and other days I have tons of energy. I also get those red dots. I think they are broken capiaries and signify interaal bleeding I only have 5 scattered on my trunk and they are always the same but my doctor said if they get worse than you need to get your levels tested . As for your son and school, you can request a medical 504 assessment and he can be eligible for accomodations like extended test times home tutoring if he is out for more than 5 for the disease late start in the morning not penalized for being absent for illness etc. just get a letter from the doctor saying his symptoms I have one for my daughters migraines. They should give you a caseworker so they can coordinate his missed work. Good luck!

I get strange red dots on my legs from time to time and I am always tired. I also have trouble sleeping. Most people don't understand vwd so I just tell them I don't sleep well.

I haven’t had the red dots since I was a kid. I’d get them on my ankles and i think it was from not keeping them elevated when I was having a bleed.

You may want to ask the Dr to check your platelet count
